Our Firm and Principals

Baer and Hickman Architects was established in 1974 by the two principals, Bill Baer and Bob Hickman.  The firm provides custom services, working closely with clients on a wide range of projects ranging from new homes and entire house renovations to kitchen and bath remodeling.   A major goal is to maximize the principals' involvement with each project.  Maintaining this custom approach allows us to carefully monitor all aspects of a service for a client.  From preliminary design through construction drawings, culminating in final construction, a principal remains closely involved with the client and the project.

Appointed by the Mayor of Denver to serve on a three person
Committee to assist in selecting the Director of the Building Department

Conducted a seminar for the Denver Building Department on how to effectively use the Uniform Code for Building Conservation

Bill brings to the firm a contextual awareness, that provides a sensitive background for renovation architecture and contemporary design as well as an experienced response to site development.

Served on a Denver City Council appointed Committee to revise the residential zoning "Pop-Top Ordinance"

Served on Denver’s Blueprint Denver Committee seeking to establish long term land use and transportation plans for the City

Served on a Community Development Agency Committee to analyze and write new zoning ordinances for residential use, "Quick Wins One and Two"

Recipient of Denver's Inter-Neighborhood Council’s  Award for Outstanding Community Service

Served on the Humboldt Neighborhood Association Committee to establish the Humboldt Street Overlay District and the Humboldt Street – Park Avenue Historic District
